Sunday Lessons: Love of God cannot be taught.

"Only fear of God can be taught. Love of God cannot be taught. It must be decided."

Have you ever seen a breathtaking sunset? You would want to tell everyone about it. You can specify all the different hues. You can show a handful of photographs. But these will all fall short, because they have to be seeing the sunset themselves for them to really appreciate how beautiful it is.

I can talk about God's love. I can talk about how it changes me and guides me and keeps me trying every single day. I can talk about how beautiful my life had become since that summer of 2012. I can share God's Word all over my Facebook and Instagram and in my blog and have some people thinking that I'm pretentious. Some people will not get it. Some people will not understand.

You cannot accurately describe a sunset to someone. He has to want to see it, and decide to go and see it for himself. You cannot teach someone to love God. He has to desire it.

"You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart."
