A Shipful of Hope

I woke up yesterday with a piercing back pain and was tempted to stay in bed until I had to leave for work. But I made plans, and the part of me that says I needed a life won out.

Logos Hope, the "world's largest floating book fair", is currently docked in the port of Cebu City, and it's definitely a bookworm heaven! There are so many books to choose from and all at very affordable prices. They also have designated sections for popular Christian authors like Karen Kingsbury and Og Mandino.

But more than the books, what really captivated me is the small group by the keyboards, singing their hearts out to beautiful Christian songs, including my favorites One Way and Breathe. Their angelic voices, blended with the innocent voices of little children, dug themselves into the deepest recess of my heart.

This visit gave me the inspiration I didn't know I was looking for lately. It was heartbreakingly overwhelming--but in a good way--to see different people from different parts of the world leave their lives to sail around the world, selling books to help different causes like AIDS and abuse.

And at the end of the day, although I was running a little late for my night shift, I got so much more than what I expected. I disembarked the ship with not only a good, affordable book in hand, but with so, so much hope in my heart. I'm so glad I chose this over sleeping in. :)
